Following the gruesome terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 civilians, strong messages of international solidarity have begun pouring in. French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni personally reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to express their condemnation and condolences over the heinous act.
In a phone call, President Macron described the attack as an act of “barbarism” and declared it “totally unacceptable.” He conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and expressed France’s unwavering support to India in its battle against terrorism. Macron assured PM Modi that France stands firmly with the Indian people in these difficult times.
Prime Minister Modi thanked President Macron for his words of solidarity and reiterated India’s firm resolve to bring those behind the attack to justice. He also reaffirmed the shared values of democracy and the rule of law that bind India and France together in the fight against global terror.
Italian PM Giorgia Meloni also condemned the “terrible” terrorist strike and extended her thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families. She assured India of Italy’s complete support in counter-terrorism efforts and emphasized the importance of international collaboration against such inhuman acts.
The Indian Prime Minister expressed gratitude for Meloni’s support and stressed that India and Italy will continue to work closely, including through international forums, to dismantle terror networks and hold perpetrators accountable.
